The Migration of SimpleNexus to a Performance Host
Intro
Migrating the SimpleNexus website to Pantheon, a performance hosting platform, yielded significant improvements in website speed and enabled a more streamlined development workflow
My Role
As the Website UX and visual designer I identified the need to migrate SimpleNexus’s website to a performant platform during their rebrand. This move ensured a smooth transition while addressing growing traffic from company expansion.
Challenges
Slow Site Performance: Though not terribly slow, Lightspeed scores of sub 80 were common.
Poor Workflow: The site lacked a great way to stage and test for updates.
Solution
In my research I found Pantheon had some great advantages when using WordPress, including:
Increased Site Performance: A faster site boosts SEO and accelerates the path to conversion.
Ideal Workflow: Greater efficiency, security, and 3rd-party developers could now code in their own environment.
Scalability: Pantheon’s system is designed to handle more visitors to the website. It does this by automatically adding more “containers” (like little mini-computers) as needed, without any manual work required.
Results
Page Load Time: On average by 18.5%.
Development Time Increased: I was able to stand up content at a faster rate, equalling GTM boost.
